2018 Spencer Grant Winners
Posted on Apr 23, 2018
The River Basin Center is pleased to announce the winners of the second John Spencer Research Grants competition for graduate students. The highest scoring proposal was from Cydney Siegerman, “The Role of Different Knowledge Types in Water Management in Ceará, Brazil.” It will receive full funding ($2,000). The second highest scoring proposal was from Carol Yang, “Effects of Freshwater Crabs on Leaf Litter Breakdown in Tropical Headwater Streams.” It will receive partial funding ($1,000).
We also thank Drs. Chuck Hopkinson, Ron Carroll and Katy Smith for reviewing the six proposals, all very high quality. The John Spencer Research Grant program was started in 2017 by a generous donation from Kathelen Amos in honor of her son, former RBC master’s student John Spencer and funds two proposals of up to $2000 each every year. For more information, see this year’s program announcement.
