Our Approach

Principles

Collaborative Community-Driven Partnerships

We are committed to ensuring community voices in the Ocmulgee River Basin guide decisions about the future of the Ocmulgee River and Juliette Dam.

Commitment to Listening

We want to hear from community members with different experiences, perspectives, and concerns. Bringing together many viewpoints will contribute to a community-owned vision for the Ocmulgee River and Juliette Dam.

Transparency and Communication

We will be honest about what we can and cannot do in this project. We’ll maintain regular and open communication about what we’re learning and how the project is progressing.

Long-term Commitment to the Altamaha River Basin
One of the core partners, TNC, has been an active conservation partner in the Altamaha River Basin since the early 1990s. TNC is committed to supporting the long-term ecological and cultural resilience of the Altamaha River Basin from metropolitan headwaters to the Atlantic Ocean.

This project seeks to engage with communities around the Ocmulgee River and Juliette Dam in Georgia to support the development of a vision for the Ocmulgee River and Juliette Dam—one that honors the past while planning for a safe and sustainable future.

We have defined principles for engagement to help ensure the outcomes of the project are reflective of community voices.
