- For federal positions, create new job alerts on USAjobs for positions you may be interested in so you immediately know when new positions are posted
- Once you’ve found a job posting that interests you, customize your resume and build your application package

- Include a cover letter to detail some of your strengths and also explain any gaps in your resume
