2022 River Basin Center Policy Symposium & Celebration

In-person registration closed Sept. 4, but a webinar option is available for Sept. 16. Registration portal below!

Event Details:

From Sept. 16 to 17, the River Basin Center will host a symposium to celebrate two decades of water policy development and to recognize the contributions of Laurie Fowler, who retired as RBC Director of Policy in 2020.

Registration includes access to all sessions, complimentary breakfast spreads both days and a boxed lunch by Big City Bread on Friday. Registration costs $40 for regular attendees, $10 for students and $120 for attorneys seeking CLE credit.

Day One:

The first-day focus will be on advancing equity in water policy. The program features a dynamic slate of speakers from outside and within UGA, a presentation by Fowler and a panel on how different entities navigate the ethics of advocacy.

Friday sessions will take place at the Delta Innovation Hub, 210 Spring St., Athens. The proposed agenda runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with a closing social.

Day Two:

The second, highly interactive half-day of the meeting will be a discussion of alternative models for integrative, applied learning that build on the legacy of Laurie Fowler’s impactful Environmental Practicum course. Participants will have the opportunity to offer input on the future of the course.

Saturday sessions will be held in the Odum School of Ecology building auditorium, 140 E Green St., Athens. The proposed half-day schedule runs from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
