For several years, the River Basin Center has monitored Holly Creek near Chatsworth, a tributary to the Conasauga River, to evaluate the progress of long-term rehabilitation and restoration projects. 

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Southeastern Aquatics Fund is funding work to restore and manage fish and mussel populations in Holly Creek as part of a project to protect the Conasauga River. Since the project began nearly a decade ago, the RBC and others have monitored fish and mussels along with several other indicators of ecological health to see if conservation and restoration projects in the watershed are having an impact on species of conservation concern.
